Philippines, Korea and China 1997 to 2007: Process and operational performance reviews of water treatment plants (19 MLD to 400 MLD) as part of due diligence to acquire assets or to identify potential risks from investing in existing water business entities.
Felixstowe, 1990: New promenade and stepped revetment sea defences at The Dip. The construction works included precast concrete units, sustainably sourced greenheart timber groynes and beach replenishment by Trailing Suction Hopper dredger
Saudi Arabia 2020: raising of 53m steel beam for Festival Hall construction using 2 x 75T cranes to lift a dead weight of 32T
Taiwan 2000: Operational review of water and wastewater treatment assets for potential business acquisition. This provided a foothold for Veolia Water to enter a new growth market
North Wales 2019: Rehabilitation of historical dams from former mining works in Gwydir Forest. Safety measures included widening of spillway to ensure conveyance of extreme flows
UAE 2013: Logistics planning of roads and infrastructure construction at South Shamka, Abu Dhabi. Focused on haul routes; interfaces between construction zones & completed zones; cost efficiencies for supply of materials & labour productivity outputs
Korea and China 2000 - 2007: Industrial outsourcing opportunities with Veolia Water for chemical, petrochemical and micro-electronic industries. Provision of Ultra-pure/De-mineralized Water, Industrial Cooling and Wastewater treatment services.
North Wales 2019: Project Executive for construction works, including transition structures connecting new 1.5m dia drainage pipe with existing box culvert
China 2007: Review of operations and performance at raw water pumping station, supplying over 300 MLD of water to Yangzi Petrochemicals Company, Nanjing
United Utilities 2016 - 2018: collaborative workshops with contractors to identify delivery constraints and risk issues to determine contractor’s target price (NEC Option C)
MSc Thesis 1994: Analysis of flow patterns and scour depth predictions around spur dykes in rivers, including computational simulations and comparison with sediment volume estimates using conventional formulae
North Wales 2019: future-proofing the standard of protection for flood defences at Friog Corner using rock armour stone up to 6T in weight
China 2005: Due diligence to acquire existing industrial water treatment assets at Thyssenkrupp-Angang JV steel galvanising plant. The water process included membrane treatment systems comprising Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis units
United Utilities 2016 - 2018: progressed wastewater treatment projects by focusing on fast-tracking Design-Build contracts, supported by early contractor involvement
China 2007: Lead negotiator for Veolia Water of largest industrial outsourcing project in Asia with Tianjin Soda – part of Bohai Chemicals Group. Tianjin Soda required industrial water, cooling water & wastewater treatment services to support their expansion.
Qatar 2013 - 2015: Design delivery for local roads and drainage in Wakrah, Doha South. Complex grade separated interchanges and signal junctions, supported by traffic modeling, were developed to reconcile the hierarchy from residential roads to expressway
Taiwan 2000: Su Tze Tou pumping assets in Taipei assessed as part of due diligence for taking over existing operation and maintenance contracts. This provided a platform for Veolia Water to enter a growth market in the region.
Philippines 1997 to 2000: Review of water tariff across income groups, and tested by financial modelling to assess investment returns and end-user affordability studies. EU/WB/ADB grant in aid for rural water supplies set a benchmark for tariff expectations.
North Wales 2018: Project Executive for construction works, including culvert works upgrade at Llanfair Talhaiarn which required flood protection from 1 in 100 year storm event
United Utilities 2016 - 2018: Cloth filter tertiary units for Cheshire batch of wastewater treatment packages to meet AMP6 effluent quality drivers
Saudi Arabia 2020: construction of Festival Hall comprising 25m high theatre, auditorium, high atrium, kitchens, restaurants, artist facilities, VIP lounges and production offices.
North Wales 2019: Structural inspection as part of rehabilitation of existing rock dam to address safety measures that help meet UK Reservoir Act requirements
Philippines 1997 to 2000: Negotiated BOT water supply agreements, developing water resources from groundwater sources or river intakes. Preliminary assessment of groundwater resources based on aquifer recharge to assess sustainable abstraction
China 2004: Construction procedures for EPC works were modified to safeguard the investment at 65 MLD wastewater treatment plants, Zhuhai. (Construction of orbal tanks shown)
UAE 2011: Shams Development, Abu Dhabi: Project Director for design stage and construction works that involved public realm, utility infrastructure, rock placement and beach formation along frontage of development
Wales 2018: Project Executive engaging with public issues and stakeholder liaison for projects. This sometimes required dealing with sensitive local issues during public drop-in sessions or through direct contact with individuals.
China 2007: Operational review of industrial wastewater treatment plant at Yangzi Petrochemicals Company, Nanjing
UAE 2009 - 2011: Land reclamation of pumped dredged material to form island development. Environmental considerations were paramount due to adjacent marine protected area, significant for its seagrass, dolphins, flamingos, dugongs and turtles.
